It's predicted that over time, Albany City will surpass Takapuna to become the North Shore's next major regional centre.
In 2004, a Variation process was undertaken by the North Shore City Council to make the necessary changes to the District Plan in order to support the development of Albany as a truly dynamic centre exhibiting urban design excellence.
Plan Change 9, Variation 67 alters the District Plan to align with the vision of Albany as a city centre and sets out the roadmap and rules to create a vibrant, mixed-use central business district.
The Environment Court decision was released in May 2007, and the Appellants are currently working through thwe final details of the Plan Change with North Shore City Council.
